Filipino teachers show their creativity and innovation in their teaching | materials |
There are hundreds of books that teachers can purchase from a bookstore that enumerate lesson plan ideas but most often they end up in book shelves or storage. It is a common practice that after being flipped through a couple of times, the teachers themselves modify what’s in the books and they still create their own materials that target the needs of their students. This is a common concern for teachers who have diverse students in their classrooms. Books published by corporations do not essentially address the needs of teachers and students.
Teachers themselves, not corporations, are the experts on creating lesson plans and instructional materials and therefore should be the ones paid for their creativity, hardwork, and expertise in creating what’s best for our educators and students. It is also very common that after teachers create such wonderful instructional materials they are just stored in flash drives or in the harddrives of their computers, until next year when they have to use them again if the same grade level is assigned to them.
It is in this light that we created our online teacher marketplace for Filipino teachers to freely share their originally created instructional materials, purchase needed resources from each other, and sell quality lesson plans, assessments and other printables that they have created.
We will make this collaborative online marketplace exclusively for Filipino teachers in the meantime that we are still trying to nurture this venture and empower our Filipino teachers to getting involved in our professional learning network.
What is your take
